Day 3 - Laura Marling
Let’s talk about Laura Marling for a minute. This was undoubtedly the best gig I saw in my 3 days straight of gigs. I arrived in a terrible mood; got off at the wrong train stop, caught the wrong tram, had bats flying at me (which I’m terrified of since my friend got swooped by one at my birthday party) and was hassled by security once I got in.
Then Laura came on stage and she was absolutely amazing. She has the most magnificent voice, the band was wonderful and she is completely adorable.
Her stage banter was sweet and slightly awkward, she told us her new approach to this was to tell the audience facts, “You can’t go wrong with a fact”, and told us a story about her parents wanting her to smile more so people didn’t get the impression she was a bit too severe.
When I walked out, I overheard a girl saying “She just makes me feel like shit, that I haven’t done anything and she’s only 22”. I can definitely relate, she’s far too talented for a 22 year old!
